Oil
Drilling & Exploration (ODE) which was incorporated in
Australia in 1954, operated through a number of subsidiaries carrying
out operations in Australia and overseas. In 2002 Ensign Energy
Services Inc, a large Canadian based drilling contractor listed
on the Toronto Stock Exchange with a fleet of more than 320 drilling
and work-over rigs, acquired all the shares in ODE. The financial strength of the Ensign Group and access to its
expertise and resources enhances Ensign's ability to deliver a greater diversity of quality services to its clients.
Ensign (formerly ODE) has over 50 years experience in supplying drilling and workover services in many parts of the world.
It is the largest onshore drilling contractor in Australia and has been involved in drilling and workover
operations in all the major exploration areas of Australia.
ODE began overseas operations in Timor in 1957 and has since performed contracts in Brunei,
Thailand, Iran, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Oman, Qatar, Libya, Gabon,
Mozambique, Caspian Sea (Turkmenistan) and Argentina.
